Welcome to Babakale Kaleder, a hidden gem nestled in the picturesque village of Babakale, Ayvacık, Çanakkale. This delightful café isn’t just a pitstop; it’s an experience that showcases the heart and soul of traditional Turkish cuisine. Here, every dish is a celebration of flavor, crafted with love and a touch of authenticity.

From the moment you step inside, the warm and inviting atmosphere envelops you, setting the perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The cheerful staff, often referred to as “teyzeler” (aunties), embody the essence of Turkish hospitality with their genuine smiles and attentive service. They’re always ready to share a recommendation or a story about the dishes they lovingly prepare.

One of the standout specialties that often garners rave reviews is the Patlıcanlı Gül Böreği, a savory eggplant pastry that bursts with flavor and flaky perfection. Coupled with the delightful Baklava, each bite is a sweet reminder of the craft behind traditional desserts. Customer testimonials like that of Irmak Ozkanca Ogut resonate with many, praising these signature dishes as “legendary.” The homemade pomegranate juice they serve is not to be missed; it’s refreshingly natural and pairs beautifully with any meal.

But the culinary delights don’t stop there. As Yiğit Tekin mentions, “everything is marvelous” — from the delicious Dolma platter to the aromatic Bamya. The restaurant prides itself on using fresh ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference. The unique flavors are complemented by refreshing drinks like Karadut Suyu (black mulberry juice) and Reyhan (basil), which elevate the meal to new heights.

If you’re looking for the perfect spot to kick off your day, the breakfast spread at Babakale Kaleder is highly recommended. Guests like Volkan Demirpençe rave about the enticing aromas that draw you in, making it hard to resist ordering everything from crispy fried peppers to succulent potatoes. “You’ll want to sample it all, yet even if you do, you’ll wish you could fit in more,” he advises. It’s a true feast for the senses.

In a world where dining experiences can often feel rushed or impersonal, Babakale Kaleder stands out as a haven of nurture and care. Bircan Civa encapsulates this beautifully, claiming that this establishment is not just a place to eat, but a treasure of hand-crafted tastes made with pure dedication. “This is a place you come for the food, and leave with a heart full of joy,” she says.

So, when you find yourself in Babakale, make sure to stop by Babakale Kaleder. It’s more than a café; it’s a community hub where love for food and tradition mingles beautifully. Experience the warmth, savor the flavors, and create memories that linger far beyond your visit. As locals say, “If you’re in Babakale, you must visit here.”

What a great place! We had an amazing lunch here for a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.

Patlıcanlı börek, dolma tabağı, bamya yedik. Her şey şahaneydi. Karadut suyu ve reyhan da çok güzel. Mutlaka deneyiniz. Ancak konum doğru yeri göstermiyor. El sanatları sokağından girince ileride göreceksiniz. Afiyet olsun.

The breakfast was rich and tasty, we tried some pastries and sweets too. The cafe is run by a local cooperative. Everyone was very kind, helpful and smiling, they also found time for a chat and gave some tourist tips. Really pleasant!

Bir kadın emeği kooperatifinde yemek yemenin verdiği haz, Şenay Ablanın ve diğer hoşsohbet kadınların eşliğinde akan muhabbet, leziz yemekler, taze nar suyu ve zeytinyağlı sarmanın en iyi hali (hmmm ekşili böyle, halamın yaptığı gibi )… Günümüzü şenlendirdiniz, ellerinize sağlık! Umarım köyün erkekleri de şu çevre temizliği konusunun bi ucundan tutar da verdiğiniz emekler tam karşılığını bulur. Yorumları okuyan hayvan dostu insanlar belki tatlış kedilerin kısırlaştırılması konusunda da yardımda bulunabilirler, biz elimizden geldiğince araştıracağız bu konuda ne yapılabilir diye.

The food was very good and also the desserts. We had the chance to choose the food directly (not from the menu) because we didn't know what to order. I'm sure everything is good there.
